Serious Taxi Rollover – R71 Letsitele to Gravelotte
Incident Date: 5 January 2026 Location: R71 between Letsitele and Gravelotte - multiple-patient incident.
Initial Report:
On the evening of 5 January 2026, the Asterix dispatch centre received a call reporting a serious taxi accident on the R71 between Letsitele and Gravelotte.
Asterix The Long Firefighting Dog NPC – Fire & Emergency Support Service responded to the incident.
Situation on Arrival:
On arrival, responders found that a taxi had overturned, resulting in multiple patients requiring medical assessment and treatment.
The injuries ranged from minor to critical, creating a demanding multi-patient emergency scene.
Asterix Response:
Asterix assisted alongside Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with the assessment and management of a large number of patients.
The incident required coordinated teamwork to ensure patients were assessed according to the severity of their injuries and transferred into the appropriate medical care pathway.
Patient Management:
Because of the number of people involved, the scene required careful organisation and cooperation between responding personnel.

Asterix did not provide ambulance transport.
