Who Was the Mysterious Firefighter?
During December 2025, Asterix The Long Firefighting Dog NPC – Fire & Emergency Support Service launched a light-hearted community competition called “Who Is the Mysterious Firefighter?”
One member of the Asterix team was dressed from head to toe in full firefighting personal protective equipment, completely concealing their identity.
The challenge to the community was simple: identify the person inside the firefighting gear.
The competition was created as a fun way for the community to interact with Asterix while also drawing attention to the people, equipment and protective clothing involved in firefighting.
The Competition:
Members of the community were invited to submit their guesses, interact with the Asterix page and encourage others to take part.
A clue was provided to make the challenge more interesting: the name of the Mysterious Firefighter could already be found somewhere on the Asterix page.
The competition closed on 20 December 2025.
All qualifying correct entries were placed into a lucky draw for the competition prize.
R700 Cape Union Mart Prize:
A R700 Cape Union Mart gift voucher was offered to the lucky winner.
Following the draw, Ruan Venter was selected as the winner of the Mysterious Firefighter competition.
On 8 January 2026, Ruan received his Cape Union Mart voucher from Asterix during the official prize handover.
Building Community Engagement:
Although the competition was intended to be fun, it also served a broader purpose.
