On 13 October 2025 at 15:44, Asterix The Long Firefighting Dog NPC – Fire & Emergency Support Service received a call reporting a runaway veldfire near California Plots, Letsitele.
By 15:54, the Asterix response team was en route to the incident. Heavy smoke was visible on approach, with an aggressive fire burning through grassland, mango orchards and areas of natural bush.
Working alongside local landowners, the team assisted with containing the fire and preventing further spread. The incident was brought under control by approximately 17:54.
We thank every landowner and community member who assisted during the response. Effective cooperation remains one of the most important factors in protecting lives, property, agricultural land and livelihoods during veldfire incidents.
