Initial Report:
At approximately 15:30 on 1 July 2026, Asterix The Long Firefighting Dog NPC – Fire & Emergency Support Service received a call from a concerned member of the community regarding a cat trapped in a tree in the Aqua Park area of Tzaneen.
An Asterix team was dispatched to assist.
Situation on Arrival
On arrival, responders located the cat in the tree.
Fortunately, the animal was not positioned as high as during some previous animal-assistance call-outs, making access and intervention more manageable.
The team assessed the safest way to assist without unnecessarily frightening or injuring the animal.
Asterix Response:
Asterix personnel carefully assisted with bringing the cat down from the tree.
During the final stage of the rescue, the cat made its own move and jumped from the tree onto a nearby wall.
The animal was checked following the incident and was found to be safe and unhurt.
Outcome:
The rescue was completed successfully and the cat was able to return home.
No injury to the animal was reported.
Although animal rescues are very different from fires, accidents and medical emergencies, they can still be extremely stressful for the people involved.
For the person waiting anxiously below, even a relatively small rescue can matter greatly.
