National Women’s Day Message – Asterix

On 9 August 2026, Asterix The Long Firefighting Dog NPC – Fire & Emergency Support Service joined communities across South Africa in commemorating National Women’s Day.
The women behind Asterix proudly stood in tribute to women throughout the country and recognised the many different ways in which women contribute to families, workplaces, organisations and communities.
Strength, Compassion, Courage and Commitment:
Women serve and lead in countless roles.
They protect, teach, heal, create, build, nurture, organise, support and inspire.
Some work visibly on the front lines, while others carry responsibilities behind the scenes that are just as important to the success of their families, organisations and communities.
National Women’s Day provides an opportunity to recognise those contributions and to acknowledge the resilience, dedication and leadership demonstrated by women every day.
Women in Emergency and Community Service:
Within emergency-response organisations, women contribute across a broad range of operational and supporting roles.
These may include:
Emergency response,
Medical first response,
Administration,
Dispatch and communications,
Compliance and record keeping,
Community education,
Operational support,
Organisational leadership.
Each role contributes to building a stronger and more effective service.

A Message to Every Woman:
National Women’s Day is not only about recognising prominent individuals or people in specific professions.
It is an opportunity to acknowledge every woman whose effort, resilience and compassion make a difference.
